On January 12, the table tennis competition was launched. The competition adopted the system of two wins in three games and 11 points in each game. Before the competition, the male and female groups are randomly divided into groups through computer selection, and the winning players in each group enter the next round of finalists. On the same day, the men's group had two position grabbing competitions by Wang Yao, Zhang Xiaofeng, Wang Gongcheng and ye Weidong, and opened the prelude to the competition at the same time. After some competition, Wang Yao and Zhang Xiaofeng won the 8 / 1 finals of the men's group, and 8 women players drew lots to get the 4 / 1 finals of the women's group.

On the afternoon of January 13, three men's group 8 / 1 finals were held, among which Shu Guangbing, Tan Shaopei and Zhang Xiaofeng won and took the lead in entering the men's group 1 / 4 finals. Then, in the women's group 4 / 1 finals, Wang Qing defeated Liu Lu and took the lead in entering the women's group 1 / 2 finals.
